Affirming Sexual Freedom as a Fundamental Human Right
Reproductive Justice
Grounded in the human rights framework, reproductive justice refers to all of the conditions necessary for all people to enjoy reproductive freedom, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health, and bodily autonomy, as well as to the movement that is working towards the actualization of that reality.
For individuals to have true reproductive choices, the economic, environmental, social and political factors that affect their lives must also be addressed. Reproductive justice activists center their work around a core of grassroots organizing and movement building, while understanding the importance of legal and policy strategies of reproductive rights organizations and direct services provided by reproductive health organizations for a holistic, effective and mutually supportive movement.
Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance understands reproductive rights as human rights and works closely with reproductive justice organizations to integrate a sexual freedom analysis into campaigns around comprehensive sexuality education, assisted reproductive and genetic technologies (ARGTs), abortion rights, access to contraception and other sexual and reproductive health care.
Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance has been an active member organization of the cross-movement initiative, Causes in Common: Reproductive Justice & LGBT Liberation, for many years.
