“Love. Sex and Gender are innate pathways of true communion with the Grand Universe, and therefore worthy of worship.”
Dan Massey (1942-2013) and Alison Gardner Massey (b. 1948)
Leonard Daniel Massey, a sexual freedom activist and scholar, scientist and blogger, and a self-described androgyne, died on Monday, January 28, 2013. Dan was committed to the creation of a New Age of Sexual Freedom as the key to liberty, justice, and equality for all people. Along with his life partner, Alison Gardner Massey, he founded VenusPlusX to inform, uplift, educate, train, support, and accelerate these efforts. Together they dedicated their lives to affirming and advancing the sexual freedom movement, both serving on the Advisory Council of the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance.
One of Dan’s most fervent dreams was the full integration of all voices into the national conversations about sex and sexuality, sexual rights, and gender justice. Dan always made sure that trans voices were heard even in settings when their great wisdom, talent, tolerance and compassion would otherwise have been rendered invisible or silenced.
Honoring Dan’s vision as well as his memory, this fund will offer support to transgender youths for sexual freedom conferences, leadership trainings, and internships to help ensure that their voices are heard and that they are a part of the conversation. The youth of today are the leaders for today and tomorrow.
We invite you to join us in support of the transgender community – particularly transgender youth – thru The Dan Massey Transleadership Scholarship Fund.
